Mission

Montgomery Public Schools’ First Class Pre-K Program is committed to providing a safe and caring, developmentally appropriate environment for preschool children. Our goal is to provide a high-quality educational experience which promotes the maximum development of each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive abilities.

Purpose

To provide high-quality, developmentally appropriate activities that increase school readiness in a safe and nurturing environment.

Vision

To foster a partnership with families and the community that will enhance the abilities and skills of the whole child in becoming a lifelong learner.

Belief

High-quality Pre-K experiences provide children with the foundation for on-going learning, and support children and families to become responsible citizens as they develop lifelong skills.

Goals

Goals of high-quality Pre-K experiences include: enhancing skills in personal and social development, language and literacy, mathematical thinking, scientific thinking, social-emotional development, technology skills, creative arts, and physical development; and developing a professional learning community that includes parents, teachers, principals, MPS departments, and community organizations.

Through strong partnerships with Federal Programs, the Office of School Readiness, Head Start, and the Family Guidance Center, Montgomery Public Schools offers a dynamic, high-quality Pre-K experience that increases children's school readiness. Pre-Registration

Montgomery Public Schools are now accepting online pre-registration applications for the 2019—2020 school year.  The pre-registration period will run from January 15th - March 15th, 2019.

Enrollment is open to all children who are four years-of-age on or before September 1, 2019.   Children who are eligible for kindergarten are ineligible for Pre-K.

Registration for MPS classrooms is open only to residents zoned for the Montgomery County School System.

Parents can complete the online pre-registration application on any device (computer, iPad/tablet, cell phone) that has internet access.  You will receive an email confirming your child’s pre-registration.

Parents can go to the First Class Pre-K online registration site by clicking HERE or by typing https://alprek.asapconnected.com into your internet browser.

Registering your child for Pre-K does not guarantee a slot in the District's Pre-K Program.  All children who are not randomly selected for the Pre-K Program will be placed on a Waiting List.  Parents are asked to apply to their child’s zoned school only.

Computer access and assistance completing the online pre-registration application will be available at the McKee Pre-K Center, Monday — Thursday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm thru March 15th, 2019.

Pre-K Screenings will be scheduled February 15th – March 15th.  This screening is a Federal requirement and has no impact on your child’s acceptance into the Pre-K program.
