All students will be virtual learners starting Dec. 7

Starting Dec. 7, 2020, all MPS students will be virtual learners. MPS teachers and administrators will continue to report to their classrooms and offices as usual. Parents who would like to switch their students to virtual learning before Dec. 7 may do so by submitting a written request to their school's principal.
MPS will observe its December holiday break starting Dec. 21, 2020.
If you do not have technology devices for your students, please inform your child’s teacher.  Learning packets or activity-based assignments will be given to those students without devices.
All MPS students will resume virtual classes on Jan. 4, 2021. Students who have submitted their commitment forms for face-to-face learning will be able to start face-to-face instruction on Jan. 11, 2021. Click here for the commitment form.

MPS Virtual Learning FAQ 

 

Parents, please review this FAQ document regarding virtual learning. All MPS students will be virtual learners starting Dec. 7, 2020. Face-to-face instruction will resume Jan. 11, 2021, for those who complete a commitment form. 

 

  1. When will all MPS students start virtual learning? All MPS students will be virtual learners starting Dec. 7, 2020. 

  2. When does the holiday break start? MPS will observe its holiday break starting Dec. 21, 2020. MPS students and teachers will resume virtual learning starting Jan. 4, 2021. Please note Jan. 6, 2021 will be a half day for MPS students. Students will have classroom instruction from 8:00am- 11:30am. 

  3. When will face-to-face learning be offered again? Face-to-face instruction is scheduled to resume Jan. 11, 2021 for students who have completed a commitment form indicating they intend to be face-to-face learners. 

  4. Will my child receive a Chromebook? At this time, MPS has not received its shipment of Chromebooks. Nearly 15,000 Chromebooks were ordered to ensure all MPS students would have a device. MPS is monitoring the status of the shipment daily.

  5. If my child does not receive a Chromebook and does not have a technology device, what will they receive for instruction? Teachers will either distribute a learning packet or an activity-based assignment. Detailed instructions will be provided with all assignments. 

  6. What are the school hours? Students will attend virtual classes from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Intervention and enrichment will be 1 to 3 p.m. December 9th and December 16th (both Wednesdays), classes will end at 11:30 a.m and intervention will be available starting at 1:00pm. On Wednesday, January 6, 2021 students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m and teachers will participate in a mandatory professional development session. Students will not have intervention or enrichment on January 6, 2021.

  7. I do not have Wi-Fi or internet at home. Are there any resources available? If your student is in need of Wi-Fi services, please contact your school for more information. 

  8. Will teachers be in their classrooms providing remote instruction? Yes, teachers will report to their classrooms and provide remote instruction for MPS students. 

  9. Is there a link parents and/or students can access for virtual learning support?  Yes!  Parents and students can click the following link for virtual learning support:  LINK.
