Stuff the Truck food drive

A food drive to benefit families served by Montgomery Public Schools collected hundreds of pounds of food Saturday, Aug. 25.

The Stuff the Truck Food Drive was hosted by Tie and Doll Inc. along with Alabama News Network. All donations were given to the Backpack Food Partnership.

A truck was located outside the Sturbridge Winn-Dixie on Vaughn Road, and people brought donations of non-perishable food to literally stuff the truck.

The Montgomery Backpack Food Partnership is an MPS initiative that brings in churches and community groups to help families that struggle with food insecurity. Children are able to take home backpacks full of food for a weekend or extended break from school.

To get involved with the Backpack Food Partnership, please contact the MPS Office of Family and Community Engagement at (334) 223-6735.
