MPS expresses its gratitude to Montgomery Fire and Rescue (MFR) for their dedication to community safety and for making National Fire Safety Week a memorable and educational experience for its students.
National Fire Safety Week, observed annually during the second week of October, aims to raise awareness about fire prevention and safety measures. The partnership between MPS and MFR provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn important life-saving skills.
A highlight of the week was a special visit to Wilson Elementary School, where students had the opportunity to see a real fire truck up close and personal. This provided a hands-on experience for the students, allowing them to ask questions and learn about the equipment used by firefighters.
"It was incredible to see the excitement and engagement from our students during the fire truck demonstration," said Harolyn Taylor, Counselor at Wilson Elementary. "This experience has made a lasting impression on them and will hopefully encourage them to practice fire safety at home and in their community."
"Our goal is to empower students with the knowledge and skills they need to stay safe," said Iran Soto, Lt. at MFR. "By working with MPS, we can reach a broader audience and make a real difference in the community."
