Eighteen of our dedicated school counselors recently participated in Youth Mental Health First Aid Training, an essential course that equips educators with the skills to support students facing mental health or addiction challenges, or those in crisis.
The training covered key topics such as common mental health issues among youth, typical adolescent development, and provided a practical 5-step action plan to assist students in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
A special thank you to MPS Mental Health Coordinator Michele Murphy and Professional School Counselor Cheryl Whetstone for leading this impactful training. Their expertise ensures our counselors are well-prepared to support the mental health and well-being of our students.
This training is another step in MPS’s commitment to creating a supportive and healthy environment for all students. Thank you to everyone involved for your dedication to student care and success!
