EJI's American History Student Course at G.W. Carver High School

Greetings students!

We are thrilled to announce the EJI's American History Student Course, organized by Ms. Shamika Kennedy, our dedicated 10th Grade U.S. History teacher. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Lendria Glass (Learning and Engagement Specialist), Mia Taylor (Project Manager), and Sofia McDonald (Staff Attorney) for their invaluable contributions.

Course Schedule:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 8: 3-5 pm in the Media Center/Library

  • Saturday, Jan. 11: 9 am-5 pm at the Legacy Sites

  • Wednesday, Jan. 15: 3-5 pm in the Media Center/Library

Site Visit Information: On Saturday, Jan. 11, please report to the front of Carver at 8:45 am. EJI's Legacy Shuttle will depart at 9 am to the Legacy Museum. During the visit, students will explore the Legacy Museum, the National Memorial of Peace & Justice, and the Freedom Monument Sculpture Park. A lunch voucher for Pannie-George's Kitchen and a gift card for a t-shirt at the museum bookstore will be provided.

Additional Site Visit Information: Please note that food, drinks, and gum are prohibited inside the Legacy Sites. Photography is not allowed inside the Museum or the FMSP, except in designated areas. We recommend dressing in comfortable shoes and traveling light, as you will be responsible for your belongings throughout the trip.
