Montgomery Public Schools is thrilled to announce that Mr. Brandon Howard, Director of Bands at JAG High School, has been nominated for the esteemed George N. Parks Leadership in Music Education Award. This recognition is a testament to Mr. Howard's dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to nurturing the musical talents of his students.

Mr. Howard believes that music has the power to unite, inspire, and empower. When Mr. Howard returned to JAG, he faced an uphill battle. The band program was devoid of instruments and lacked students. Undeterred, he embarked on a mission to rebuild, demonstrating remarkable determination and resourcefulness. He actively sought out instruments, reaching out to community organizations, local businesses, and even his personal network, securing the necessary tools for his students' success.

His enthusiasm and infectious passion resonated throughout the school, attracting potential band members and inspiring them to join. With unwavering belief in his vision, Mr. Howard transformed his challenge into a catalyst for growth, ultimately rebuilding the band program from scratch.

Mr. Howard's impact extends far beyond the classroom. He instills in his students valuable life lessons, emphasizing the importance of resilience, teamwork, and self-belief. A prime example of this is his decision to take the band to audition for America's Got Talent, showcasing the boundless possibilities that lie ahead for those who dare to dream.
